Celebrating Ralph and Lyn Price

“Well done, good and faithful servant,” are words proclaimed in the Gospel to the servant who delivered a good return on all that was entrusted to him. The Camp Challenge Board of Directors echoes these words as we announce that Ralph and Lyn Price, after nearly 20 years of faithful and dedicated service, will be retiring from their respective roles of Executive Director and Registrar.

This will be a summer of celebration of all Ralph and Lyn have meant to campers, parents, directors, staff, volunteers, the board and churches that support Camp Challenge. They have poured themselves into Camp Challenge and into the lives of thousands of campers, many who have made decisions for Christ or to serve in fulltime ministry.

Plans are coming together to thank Ralph and Lyn. Everyone will have the opportunity to let the Prices know just how much they are loved and the impact that Christ has had through their dedicated and consistent service. Ralph and Lyn will continue to serve throughout the 2013 summer camp season and will transition to “civilian life” by the end of the year.

A few notes:

  • The board will soon announce ways that you can show your appreciation.
  • A search team for our next Executive Director is forming and details will be announced soon. They will be looking for everyone’s help in getting the word out and identifying candidates.
  • Although the board is committed to bringing a family camp experience to the schedule, the decision has been made to call-off Family Camp 2013. The energy and effort required to make this an excellent, well attended camp will distract from the important tasks of loving Ralph and Lyn well this camp season and searching for the right person to lead the camp into the future.

2012 – A Year of Big Improvements at Camp Challenge!

Thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers, Camp Challenge saw some major improvements in 2012, including:

  • New game courts – Octaball, Four Square and Tetherball – hours of fun.
  • Completely remodeled Upper Amity – fresh, clean, new carpet, new paint and more – air-conditioned worship and program space.
  • Refreshed Nora Hunter Retreat Center – new paint and carpet for our most civilized space.
  • New roofs for Amity and the Shelter House – lasting protection for our large group facilities.

Donations from individuals and churches also support ongoing operations and maintenance so we can keep camp fees low.
